"She had Paris Blue Eyes"

SOLD
I have two series of works that I return to on a semi-regular basis. One is "The Green Flash"; a series of abstract sunsets and the other is "Face to Face"; a series of not-so-real faces. The objective of the face to face series is to paint a face with unrealistic qualities that somehow seems real. Meaning that when the viewer looks at the face he or she sees beyond the oddities and sees the personality. I am happy to say that has happened to Paris Blue Eyes because it sold this week in the gallery.

Revisiting some older items.

I have not made these 3-palm rectangle platters for some time. The bottoms have a tendency to bow upward as they dry so I really have to baby them. Because they always sell when I have them in stock, I decided to revist them. These came out very nice and I plan to make some more. To the left of them you see some giant flip flops. I have made pottery wall flip flops for many years but, I have always made them in real shoe sizes. I wanted to see what would happen if I took them extra large. They don't quiet work for me yet, but I think with a little tweaking they could be fun.

Painting on Paper

SOLD

I really should be working on clay pieces but the studio has been really cold and I have had a hard time working with wet hands. So I have had short spans of clay work and short spans of painting. I have been working with acrylic paints on paper. There are a couple of palm tree landscapes in the works, this one, "Sunrise Palms", is the only one finished. I like the way the light is coming toward the viewer. In real life when this happens it is very hard to see the objects in front of the light. But I don't worry too much about reality.

The image is 11" x 14" and it is matted to 16' x 20"

"Sunrise Palms" $195.00

I'm taking it into the gallery (7 Artists Key West) tomorrow.
